Constructing Large-scale Network Models

Michael Vanier, California Institute of Technology

Abstract

This tutorial discusses the issues encountered, and describes the process of constructing biologically realistic large networks of neurons. The examples are taken from an improved "next-generation" model of the piriform cortex. It also covers the use of GENESIS tools for combining single cells into networks, positioning the cells in space, and specifying the connections between cells.
