GENESIS user Cengiz Gunay (cgunay at emory dot edu) has contributed the
utility "Gencompress" that can achieve average 10:1 compression ratios for
intracellular voltage traces recorded from GENESIS simulations. It can
operate on files created with the disk_out method.
While the compression is lossless, the data is initially truncated to
16-bit resolution. The FLAC lossless audio codec
(http://flac.sourceforge.net/) is adapted to achieve this performance.
Download one of the following packages:
* gencompress-1.0b.src.tar.gz - Source package for all others
* gencompress-1.0b.i686.tar.gz - binary package for i686 Linux
* gencompress-1.0b.x86_64.tar.gz - binary package for x86_64 Linux
